KIDZ just wanna have  fun

"Children are a gift from the Lord..."  Psalms 127:3

Our mission is to help maintain a sense of security for the parent, while providing a source of comfort and support for the pediatric patient.

About Us

KIDZ Just Wanna Have Fun Inc. is a faith based corporation, founded on January 4, 2018. The inspiration for starting this organization came from personal experiences during a journey with an immediate family member, a child who was chronically ill and frequently hospitalized over a number of years. By the grace of God and the help of others that child is now a completely healthy, college educated, successful adult. During that time we were blessed with extended family and many friends who supported us throughout her journey.  Now we want to extend the same blessing by supporting other families as they go through their journeys.

When a child is hospitalized long term, both the parent and child often experience some form of stress. The child is taken out of their normal daily routine, they miss family and friends, they're being touched and talked too by different nurses and doctors daily, and they're often experiencing pain or discomfort.

Parents/guardians are forced to trust the well being of their child to strangers. They watch as their child experiences pain or discomfort, unable to provide them any relief. Now their new primary focus is being an advocate for their child while trying to maintain their parenting role.

The hospital environment can be a difficult adjustment, but more so for parents who also have outside stress factors; additional children to care for, the inability to take time off work, or the financial maintenance of a household.

We know first hand the effects of stress when a family has an ill or hospitalized child. The responsibility of maintaining normalcy for a family while caring for a hospitalized child can be overwhelming. For some, it's impossible without help.

Our goal is to work with communities across the country to implement a nationwide, sustainable program that will ensure that parents of hospitalized children are able to care for their child without apprehension of negligence to their family or home.

Financial Assistance

Bill Pay Assistance - Bill Pay Assistance was put in place for families with a child hospitalized long term (3 weeks or longer), whose parent/guardian has taken time off work to care for the child.

This service will assist with the direct payment of qualifying household bills while the child is hospitalized, up to 4 weeks post discharge.

• Qualifying household bills include:

        -   Rent, utilities, and groceries.

• Qualifying families include:

        -   Parents/guardians who work full time and have been approved for FMLA through their employer, but will not receive pay for their time off work.

        -   Parents/guardians who have taken a short or long term leave from work (to care for hospitalized/ill child)

        -   Parents/guardians who are temporarily unemployed as a result of time taken off due to their child's illness or hospitalization.

Hospital Volunteers

Patient Volunteers - Patient volunteers were put in place for pediatric patients hospitalized long term (3 weeks or longer), whose parent/guardian is unable to stay in with the patient during hospitalization.

• This service includes:

        -   Assigned volunteers who will visit with the patient up to 3 days per week, 2-4 hours per visit.

        -   Each volunteer will be matched with a patient, with the assistance and approval of a parent/guardian.

Saturday November 30th @ 8:00am🍁 Project Snug is a day of service set up primarily for children 5 and up ...but parents we need you too.

•This project was created to bring awareness to the growing number of homeless children in our community, while providing an opportunity for children and teens to serve other children in need.

•We will spend the day making blankets for children (boys and girls) who are temporarily residing in homeless shelters. Each blanket will be packaged with a mini bible, gift wrapped & delivered to local homeless shelters throughout the Kansas City metro area on Christmas Eve.

•Our goal is to provide as many children as possible with a blanket, made just for them, to open on Christmas morning.

Table Talk is a series of events that will be held in both Kansas City Missouri and San Diego California.
This project will be presented by partnering organizations, KIDZ Just Wanna Have Fun and Once Upon Her life.

This project was inspired by Jada Pinkett Smith's new FB series, "Red Table Talk". Much like the popular series, each event will focus on a different topic. The featured table guests will include June Goods (CEO of KIDZ Just Wanna Have Fun) and Brittny Ferguson (CEO of Once Upon Her Life). Different specialists and guest speakers will be invited to each event, based on the chosen topic.

Each Table Talk session will host approximately 100-150 people. The audience will not only enjoy appetizers, cocktails and live music, they will also have a chance to join the conversation. Table Talk is an interactive event, meant to bring the community together to discuss the tough topics and serious issues going on within our community. It's a safe place for all opinions and perspectives. Come with an open mind and you'll possibly leave with a new understanding.

The topic for our first TABLE TALK event will be SUICIDE. This is a very sensitive topic all throughout our country at this time. We'll discuss the STIGMA, JUDGEMENT, SHAME, ACCOUNTABILITY, PREVENTION, and IMPACT of suicide. Guest speaker Michael Watson will join us at the table.

Stay tuned for date, time and location.

*All proceeds from each TABLE TALK KC event will go towards KIDZ Just Wanna Have Fun.*
